Kurt "COACH" Wenger Partners With Avid To Launch Championship Product Line

Jan 12 2012

Newport Beach, CA -

After 9 years of dedicated effort at Team Associated in developing world championship products, Kurt Wenger has decided to branch out on his own to create parts and accessories that will change the pace of development in the R/C industry. His new mission is to focus on research and development of cutting edge, value-based 10th and 8th scale products that will enhance the racing experience for avid RC enthusiasts.

By successfully combing 25 years of racing experience with a mechanical engineering degree from Texas A&M, Kurt Wenger has been instrumental in the evolution of R/C since he began working at Team Associated in 2002. Now with 6 IFMAR World Championships under his belt, countless ROAR National Championships, European Championships, and multiple accolades for Associated vehicles, lead engineer Kurt “Coach” Wenger is taking his unique and unparalleled R/C experience into a new endeavor.

When asked why he decided to make this transition Kurt said “I want to focus on what I do best, which is developing new ideas to improve the cars. My strength is in testing, development, and racing. By launching my own product line I’ll have the freedom to test and develop all of my ideas, as well as the great suggestions and requests that come from the leading racers in the industry like Ryan Cavalieri, Ryan Maifield, Travis Amezcua, and Richard Saxton.”

After making the decision to move from a traditional desk job at Associated to developing a new product line he reached out to David Joor of AVID Racing Concepts, who is an expert in e-commerce web solutions as well as an accomplished racer. David has been successfully building the AVID brand for 8 years (www.avidrc.com, known for world championship racing bearings) and was looking for a way to expand his business. Kurt and David decided to create the perfect partnership by adding a world champion product engineer to the world championship AVID brand.

Look for the new AVID products to launch in early 2012 with:

  • Aluminum bellcrank sets for the B4/T4/SC10
  • Complete lineup of wheels and hex adapters for popular Associated and Losi vehicles
  • Precision springs for 10th and 8th scale
