Ty Tessman Wins in a New Class

Nov 21 2011

Avid RC's very own, Ty Tessman, was at the Milestone RC Park in Riverside California this past weekend for the HPI West Coast Baja Nationals.   Ty was looking to test his driving skills and a new vehicle in a class he hasn't driven in before.   85 other drivers were also looking for a win, but Tessman - who normally races 8th scale Buggy and Truggy - finished on top of the podium for the weekend.

Qualifying was interesting and a big test for Tessman.   The format was Rocket Round Qualifying, which only counted the fastest single qualifier.   After 2 days and 4 rounds, Tessman had the fastest time and took the TQ for the Expert A-main.   When asked about the track, Ty had this to say, "It rained the first day, but they got it cleaned up in time for qualifying.  They did maintenance after the first two rounds so that it was prepped for the next day, which was great to race on."

The A-Main was a 30 minute race, which after a few computer glitches was able to run smoothly.   Tessman was challenged at the start, but was able to maintain his lead after the first lap and never looked back.   In fact, Tessman and his HPI Baja SC Truck lapped the field 4 times to take the win.   Tessman was obviously pleased with his vehicle, which other than the clutch bell, was completely stock.   "I'd like to thank my sponsors for providing me with superior equipment and giving me the confidence to succeed", said Tessman.
